Bay Area leaders, business pioneers, dissidents, technologists, activists, artists, and journalists will join together for an unforgettable one-day event featuring inspiring stories from around the world. In partnership with Humanity United, the Freedom Forum will feature three sessions of talks from some of the Oslo Freedom Forum’s most powerful speakers. Programming will also include live art and performances, as well as an interactive expo that will highlight organizations and products at the intersection of technology and human rights. Topics to be explored include encryption, virtual reality, censorship evasion, and activists using education and information to challenge dictatorships. Following the theater programming, Human Rights Foundation will celebrate its tenth year anniversary with a gala dinner at the Regency Center.
Speakers at the San Francisco Freedom Forum include Afghan tech entrepreneur Roya Mahboob, Indian journalist and author Anjan Sundaram, American international litigator Kimberley Motley, Chinese-Canadian actress Anastasia Lin, Syrian citizen journalist Abdalaziz Alhamza, Nepalese women’s and children’s rights activist Rachana Sunar, North Korean defector Hyeonseo Lee, Cuban democracy activist Rosa María Payá, Charlie Hebdo journalist Zineb El Rhazoui, and Ukrainian anti-corruption advocate Yulia Marushevska.
