RIYAD, Saudi Arabia (January 29, 2019) — Mariah Carey , Tiësto, and Sean Paul will travel to Saudi Arabia to perform at King Abdullah Economic City on January 31, 2019. World renowned artists should not be performing for the brutal regime of Saudi Arabia. Mariah Carey has been an outspoken advocate for women’s rights and thus performing for a brutal regime that imprisons and tortures women for calling for basic human rights will severely undermine her advocacy work and tarnish her reputation. Tiësto, who is committed to helping victims of natural disasters, should seriously consider the message he would be sending if he performs for a dictator who has willfully caused destruction in Yemen for the past four years leading to the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
HRF hopes that they will cancel their performances immediately and stand up for human rights and freedom.
