Today, Zimbabwe’s dictator Robert Mugabe submitted a letter of resignation to parliament which ended his 37-year rule and triggered massive celebrations in the streets of Harare.
Amid the country’s uncertain political future, HRF reiterates its call to Zimbabwe’s Defense Forces to refrain from violence against peaceful demonstrators and to hold free and fair elections that comply with international standards, which would include allowing full participation by opposition groups and international election monitors.
